Thornfield Care Home’s Annual Summer Party
There's nothing quite like a bit of ABBA to get everyone up on their feet, and that's exactly what happened at Thornfield Care Home's Annual Summer Party this year. The celebration brought together residents, families, healthcare professionals and friends from The Check House and Silverleigh Care Home for a wonderful afternoon of entertainment, music and community spirit.
Dancing Queens and Kings for the Day
This year's theme was ABBA, and the atmosphere reflected it from start to finish. With plenty of singing, dancing and karaoke on the go, there was never a quiet moment throughout the afternoon. Residents joined in enthusiastically with all the classic hits, some taking to the microphone themselves while others sang along from their seats, tapping their feet and clapping in time with the music.
Beyond the entertainment, the real magic of the day came from the connections made and strengthened along the way. Residents spent quality time with loved ones who had come along to join the celebrations, while also making new friendships with visitors from The Check House and Silverleigh Care Home. It was a lovely reminder of just how much joy a shared celebration can bring, especially when it spans several homes and generations coming together as one big community.
A Feast Fit for a Party
No summer party would be complete without a delicious spread, and the Thornfield kitchen team certainly delivered. Guests were treated to a delicious buffet including homemade garlic dough balls, pizza, pâté, fresh salads, coleslaw and a wide selection of other tasty treats. The spread went down a treat, giving everyone the chance to refuel between songs and keep the celebrations going well into the afternoon.
Giving Back Along the Way
The generosity of the day didn't stop at good food and great company. Thanks to the kindness of everyone who attended, the event also raised approximately £50 for our nominated Care Workers' Charity, a wonderful way to support the very people who dedicate themselves to caring for others every day.
A huge thank you goes out to everyone who came along, sang, danced and supported the event, helping to make it such a memorable and enjoyable day for all involved. Celebrations like this highlight exactly what life at Thornfield is all about: warmth, connection and plenty of fun along the way.
