Thornfield Care Home’s Annual Summer Beach Party

This year’s Thornfield Care Home Summer Party proved once again why it’s one of the most anticipated events on our calendar, and perhaps in the whole of Devon! Sunshine poured through the windows, but we were ready for every weather eventuality, transforming the home into a seaside paradise. Buckets of golden sand, colourful beach balls, vibrant bunting, and nautical decorations brought the coast right to our doorstep, ensuring the summer spirit was alive in every corner.

A Feast to Remember
Our very own Head Chef, Emma and her talented kitchen team truly outdid themselves. From crisp, perfectly battered fish and chips to fresh, zingy salads, cooling drinks and decadent homemade desserts, every dish was prepared with care and love. The aromas drifting from the kitchen had residents and visitors alike peeking in to see what was coming next. The star of the afternoon? A surprise visit from an ice cream van, where everyone, staff included, indulged in a cone (or two!).

Music, Laughter, and a Dance Floor for All
No Thornfield party would be complete without top-class entertainment, and this year we were lucky enough to welcome the brilliant Jay Hobday. From the first note, she had toes tapping and hands clapping. Her infectious energy swept through the room, and before long, residents and staff were singing and dancing together! The joy on everyone’s faces was proof that music really does bring people together.

The Heart Behind the Event
Of course, none of this magic happens without the people who make Thornfield Care Home so special. A huge thank you goes to Alan, our very own “Activity King” whose creativity, passion and dedication bring events like this to life. Also, to our amazing staff, who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to make sure every detail was perfect, we are so grateful.

As the afternoon drew to a close, the room was filled with the warm hum of conversation, the sound of happy laughter and the shared feeling that we had all been part of something truly special. Beach Party 2025 will certainly go down in Thornfield history and we’re already dreaming about how to make next year even bigger and better.
