Pride Day Sparkles at Thornfield Care Home

Our home was bursting with colour and joy as residents, staff, and visitors came together to celebrate Pride Day in true Thornfield style. It was an uplifting occasion filled with music, laughter, and a true sense of unity, which made it a day to remember for everyone involved.

From the moment the preparations began, the enthusiasm from our residents was infectious. In the days leading up to the celebration, residents joined staff in creating beautiful handmade decorations. The home was transformed into a vibrant rainbow wonderland, with flags, streamers, and glitter adorning the walls. Every corner told a story of love and creativity, and the pride in the residents’ eyes was beautiful to see as they stood back and admired their hard work.

The afternoon’s live entertainment was the main highlight. The energy in the room was electric as the performer took to the stage, singing songs that brought back fond memories and encouraged plenty of toe-tapping, clapping, and even a little dancing from some of our residents.

Later in the day, we gathered for a cheerful tea party that perfectly matched the colourful theme. Residents were treated to a delightful selection of rainbow cupcakes, biscuits, other homemade goodies and their favourite drinks. Our dining room was alive with conversation and cheer, as residents shared stories, posed for photos and soaked up the joyful atmosphere.

Pride Day at Thornfield was about more than just decorations and dancing. It was a heartfelt celebration of love in all its forms, and a chance to show support for the LGBTQIA+ community. It was also a reminder of the importance of inclusivity, kindness, and acceptance, values that we hold close to our hearts here at Thornfield.

We are incredibly proud of our residents and staff who embraced the spirit of the day with open hearts and open minds. Events like this truly reflect the warm and welcoming environment we provide around the clock and we look forward to holding many more celebrations over the upcoming months.
